Course Selection

BS (Psychology)

Rules:

 

1.     Students enrolled in the first semester of their study program are given pre-selected courses from respective study scheme by the system; all other students may select their own courses subject to their scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the rules below.

2.     The credit hour limits are as below:

            i.   A maximum of 18 credit hours per semester are allowed. However, in special circumstances university may allow to enroll maximum 21 credit hours.

           ii.    In case any student wishes to enroll for one more course beyond the specified credit hours limit in the last two semesters, should submit his/her request to the Rector through Dean. He/she may be allowed by the Rector provided that student’s CGPA is 3.00 or above out of 4.

         iii.    The minimum course load in a semester shall be according to the study scheme, but in special circumstances it can be a minimum of 03 credit hours.

Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrollment of credit hours includes ‘F’ or ‘D’ grade courses, if any enrolled.

 

3.   Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

4.   A student can improve a course anytime in which his/her obtained grade is less than “B”. In such a case he/she has to repeat the improvement course(s) in the forthcoming semester(s), in which that course is offered.

5.     Students enrolled through “Entry Route Exemption” will be given a list of courses not exempted from first five semesters from respective study scheme. Students can select the courses subject to the limitations prescribed in the rules below.

                  i.   A maximum of 21 credit hours per semester are allowed.

                 ii.     In case any student wishes to enroll for one more course beyond the specified credit hours limit in the last two semesters, should submit his/her request to the Rector through Dean. He/she may be allowed by the Rector provided that student’s CGPA is 3.00 or above out of 4.

Rules for Final Year Project/Coursework Track:

 

1.   The Final Year Project shall be of 06-Credit Hours and will be split in the 7th and 8th semester equally (carrying a workload of 3 credit hours per semester).

2.   In order to enroll for a Final Year Project, students must have:

                     i.    Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher.

                    ii.    A minimum of 100 credit hours are required.

                    iii.   Passed STA630-Research Methods course.

 

3.    If a student fails to qualify/pass of the Final Year Project, the “F” grade will be awarded to the student in the Final Year Project.  

  1. Course Work track:

i.   If a student due to any issue is not able to opt for the Final Year Project, the alternative path of “Coursework track” will also be given in which student will be required to study two additional courses (i.e., in VII & VIII semester) comprising of 3 credit hours each in lieu of Final Year Project.

Rules for Internship

 

1In Internship Report (PSYI619: Internship Report-Psychology), students are required to complete 6-8 weeks internship in any Government Hospital, Registered Private Clinic, Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Organization with HR department, Special Education Institutes with psychologically challenged child cases and school settings. Students will get Internship Completion Certificate issued by concerned organization/internship placement.

2.   Students will submit a detailed internship report and will give a viva presentation.

3. Students will be required to request their internship placement supervisor(s) to send a performance report of the internee by filling up the prescribed evaluation form and submitting it in a sealed envelope to the University.

4. In order to enroll in the Internship course, the student must have earned 84 or more credit hours with at least 2 CGPA.

5. Passed Abnormal Psychology Course.

Procedure:

 

In order to select your courses, follow the steps below:

1.     From within the LMS, click the Student Services button

2.     Click on the Course Selection link

3.     Give preference to "F" grade course(s) and the improvement of "D" grades where possible

4.     Click the check boxes to select courses

5.     Save the selection

6.     You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop or replace course(s).

 

Note: In case, a student fails to complete the Final Year Project within the stipulated time due to verifiable recorded reasons, an extension of maximum one semester may be granted by the Dean of the faculty on the recommendation of Head of Department. The permissible maximum duration of the study program shall apply while granting extension.
