Course Selection

 

BS Islamic Studies

 

 

Rules:

 

1.    Students enrolled in the first semester of their study program are given pre-selected courses; all other students may select their own courses subject to their scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the under-mentioned rules.

2.    The credit hour limits are as below:

          i.  For the second semester a maximum of 17 credit hours are allowed.

         ii.   For the third and subsequent semester(s) a maximum of 18 credit hours are allowed. However, in certain cases, the University may allow to enroll maximum 21 credit hours only if student’s CGPA is ≥ 3.00 out of 4.

        iii.  Pre-requisite or specialization requirements will not be violated in any case.

Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrollment of credit hours include F’ or ‘D’ grade courses, if any enrolled.

3.     Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

4.    During a study program, students may attempt to improve less than “B” grade courses only once.

 

Rules for Internship/Field Study and Capstone Project:

 

1.    Each student will complete the “ISL3564-Internship/Field Study” in 5th semester and “ISl4869- Capstone Project/Thesis” in last semester as the mandatory degree completion requirement.

Note: Internship/Field Study and Capstone Project, both are not required for getting exit as ADP after 4 semesters or earning 68 credits.

2.    In order to enroll for a 6 to 8 week Internship/Field Study, students must have:

              i.    Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher.

             ii.    Earned minimum 68 credit hours.

3.    In order to enroll for Capstone Project, students must have Passed ISL3669-Methods of Research course

4.    For completion of ISL3564-Internship/Field Study, Students will be required:

          i.      To submit an Internship Report (IR) for evaluation and an Internship Completion Certificate (ICC) at the end of the internship program.

         ii.      To request their internship supervisor(s) to send a performance report of the internee by filling up the prescribed evaluation form and submitting it in a sealed envelope to the University.

5.     Evaluation of the courses “ISL3564-Internship/Field Study” and “ISl4869- Capstone Project/Thesis” will be based on pass/fail criteria and will not affect a student's CGPA. Minimum passing criteria for both the Internship/Field Study and Capstone Project will be 50%.

(Note: The courses “ISL3564-Internship/Field Study” and “ISl4869- Capstone Project/Thesis” are the compulsory requirement and it is necessary for each student to pass these courses to fulfill the requirements of the degree in BS Islamic Studies. However, it will not be a requirement for completion of the Associate Degree ADP in Islamic Studies.)

 

Procedure:

In order to select your courses, follow the steps below:

 

  1. From within the LMS, click the Student Services button
  2. Click on the Course Selection link
  3. Give preference to "F" grade course(s) and the improvement of "D" grades where possible
  4. Click the check boxes to select courses
  5. Save the selection
  6. You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop or replace course(s).

Note: In case, a student fails to complete the Final Year Project within the stipulated time due to verifiable recorded reasons, an extension of maximum one semester may be granted by the Dean of the faculty on the recommendation of Head of Department. The permissible maximum duration of the study program shall apply while granting extension.

RECOMMENDATION: Full-Time Regular Students Are Urged To Follow Their Prescribed Scheme Of Studies.
