Course Selection
BS English (Applied Linguistics)
w.e.f. Batch 2104
- Students
enrolled in the first semester of their study program are given
pre-selected courses from respective study scheme by the system; all other
students may select their own courses subject to their scheme of studies
and the limitations prescribed in the rules below:
- The credit
hour limits are as below:
- A
maximum of 18 credit hours per semester are allowed. However, in special
circumstances university may allow to enroll maximum 21 credit hours.
- In
case any student wishes to enroll for one more course beyond the
specified credit hours limit in the last two semesters, should submit
his/her request to the Rector through the Dean. He/she may be allowed by
the Rector provided that the student’s CGPA is 3.00 or above out of 4.
- The
minimum course load in a semester shall be according to the study scheme,
but in special circumstances it can be minimum of 03-credit hours.
Note: Maximum
limits prescribed for enrollment of credit hours includes ‘F’ or ‘any course(s)
taken for improvement.
- Students
taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies
will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases
they will also have to bear the additional cost.

A student can anytime improve a course in which his/her obtained
grade is less than “B”. In such a case he/she has to repeat the improvement
course(s) in the forthcoming semester(s), in which that course is
offered.
- Students
enrolled through “Entry Route Exemption” will be given a list of courses
not exempted from first five semesters from respective study scheme.
Students can select the courses subject to the limitations prescribed in
the rules below:
- A maximum of

Rules
for Final Year Project:

1.
For the enrollment of Project/Thesis, student must meet the
prescribed credit hours, prerequisite and CGPA requirements as prescribed in
course selection rules.
2.
Final Year Project shall be of 06-Credit Hours and will be split
in the 7th and 8th semester equally (carrying a workload
of 3 credit hours per semester). FYPI is the prerequisite of FYPII.
3.
To qualify for the Final Year Project,
i. Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher.
ii. Earned
a minimum of 97 credit hours.
iii. Passed
ENG518 (Research Methodology in ELT)
4.
If a student fails to qualify the Final Year
Project/Internship/Teaching Practice with or without availing the extension,
the “F” grade will be awarded to the student in the Final Year Project/
Internship/Teaching Practice.
In order to select your
courses, follow the steps below:
- From within
the LMS, click the Student Services button.
- Click on
the Course Selection link.
- Give
preference to "F" grade course(s) and the improvement of
"D" grades where possible.
- Click the
check boxes to select courses.
- Save the
selection.
- You may make
changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to
add, drop or replace course(s).
Note: In case, a student fails to
complete the Final Year Project within the stipulated time due to verifiable
recorded reasons, an extension of maximum one semester may be granted by the
Dean of the faculty on the recommendation of Head of Department. The
permissible maximum duration of the study program shall apply while granting
extension.
