Course Selection
BS Computer Science
- Students
enrolled in the first semester of their study program are given
pre-selected courses from respective study scheme by the system. But in
case of elective courses, students can select elective course of their own
choice. All other students may select their own courses subject to their
scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the rules below.
- The credit
hour limits are as below:
- A maximum of
18 credit hours per semester are allowed (except for 5th semester in
which 21 credit hours are allowed). However, in special circumstances the
University may allow to enroll a maximum 21 credit hours. The
students admitted based on Math Deficiency courses will enroll in 21
credit hours for the first semester and 20 credit hours in second
semester.
Note: VU001 course is mandatory to enroll and
qualify.
- In case any
student wishes to enroll for one more course beyond the specified credit
hours limit in the last two semesters, should submit his/her request to
the Rector through Dean. He/she may be allowed by the Rector provided
that student’s CGPA is 3.00 or above out of 4.
- For Final
semester, maximum 21 credit hours of coursework are allowed in addition
to Project/Internship as applicable, subject to the condition that all
degree requirements will be completed within the same semester and no
other course selection rules, such as pre-requisite or specialization
requirements, will be violated.
- The minimum
course load in a semester shall be according to the study scheme, but in
special circumstance it can be minimum of 03-credit hours. In case the
remaining credits to complete degree are less than 03 credits, student
can enroll remaining credits accordingly.
Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrollment
of credit hours includes courses enrolled for improvement, if any.
3. Student
must select theory and its practical course in the same semester (where
applicable). However, if the student fails in theory/practical, then, he/she
can take the failed course only.
- Students
taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies
will require extra semester(s) to complete the curriculum; in such cases
they will also have to bear the additional cost.
- During a
study program, students may attempt to improve a course with grade less
than B.
