B.Ed. (Hons) Elementary

Rules:

Students with an associate degree in a different discipline or a conventional BA/BSc degree annual system must qualify for a bridging semester to bridge the gap in knowledge or skills while entering B.Ed. (4 Years) Elementary.

 

1.    Applicants with a 2-year associate degree in different disciplines or a conventional BA/BSc degree annual system (from an HEC-recognized institution) will be able to join the 5th semester of a B.Ed. (4 Years) Elementary under the following rules:

                              i.        Students must pass the Bridging semester 19 credit hours to meet the program requirement.

                            ii.        Students will complete their resident time (4 Semesters) and can select the courses subject to the limitations prescribed in the rules below.

                           iii.        A maximum of 18 credit hours per semester are allowed.

                           iv.        In case any student wishes to enrol for one more course beyond the specified credit hours limit in the last semester should submit his/her request to the Rector through the Dean. Students may be allowed to select up to 21 cr. hrs. The Rector may permit them, provided that the student's CGPA is greater than 3.00 out of 4.

2.    Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

3.    During a study program, students may attempt to improve a "D" grade course only once.

Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrolment of credit hours include F’ or ‘D’ grade courses, if any enrolled.

 

4.    Prerequisite Courses in lieu of Entry Route Lateral Degree

                              i.        VU001 is Compulsory to qualify for all students with 2 years B.A/B.Sc./ADP or equivalent in any disciplines from other institutions.

                            ii.        Students will complete 6 cr. hrs. (6-8 weeks field experience) teaching practice courses (TPTA519 and TPTB519).

                           iii.        TPTA519 will be offered in the bridging semester.

 

5.    The thesis/project/internship rules are as follows:

 Rules for Final Year Project:

1. The Final Year Project (Capstone) shall be of 03-Credit Hours (EDUA630) and will be selected in 4th (last) semester.

To enroll for the Final Year Project student must have:

a. Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher

b. Earned a minimum of 39 credit hours

c. Passed the course EDU407-Reseaech Methods in Education

 

Note:  If a student fails to qualify for the Final Year Project, the “F” grade will be awarded to the students in the Final Year Project.

Rules for Teaching Practice:

2. Students will complete 6 cr. hrs. (total of 6-8 weeks field experience) teaching practice courses. (TPTA519- Teaching Practice I & TPTB519- Teaching Practice II). TPTA519 -Teaching Practice I will be offered in the bridging semester.

3. Students will select Teaching Practice course (TPTB519) only after meeting the following eligibility criteria. Students must have:

a. Passed EDU301-General Methods of Teaching

b. Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher

c. Earned a minimum of 33 credit hours

d. TPTB519-Teaching Practice II will be offered in 4th (last) Semester.

 Note: 1. Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the course work; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

2. In case a student fails to complete the Final Year Project/Teaching Practice within the stipulated time due to verifiable recorded reasons, an extension of maximum one semester may be granted by the Dean of the Faculty on the recommendation of Head of Department. The permissible maximum duration of the study program shall apply while granting extension.

3. You may consult your scheme of studies under the Student Services section in your LMS account, in case of any confusion.

Note: Evaluation of the courses "Teaching Practice" will be graded as per the university criteria and will affect a student's CGPA. However, being a compulsory requirement, it is necessary to pass these courses to fulfil the requirements of the degree program.

6.    Updated Credit Hours (theoretical & practical courses)

Students with Associate degree in Different discipline/ or a conventional BA/BSc degree (annual system) will complete 67 credit hours in total.

7.  Courses to be offered to the Bridging Semester students

The following courses (3*6= 18 credit hours) will be offered in the bridging semester.

·   VU001 is compulsory to qualify for all students from other universities.
