Course Selection

Associate Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education

Rules:

1.    Students enrolled in the first semester of their study program are given pre-selected courses; all other students may select their own courses subject to their scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the rules below.

2.    The credit hour limits are as below:

                        i.        A maximum of 18 credit hours is allowed per semester.

                       ii.        For the final semester 18 credit hours are allowed. In case any student wishes to enroll in one more course beyond the specified credit hour limit in the last semester, they should submit their request to the Rector through the Dean. Students may be allowed to select up to 21 credit hours. The Rector may permit them, provided that the student's CGPA is greater than 3.00 out of 4.

3.     Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the requirements; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

4.     During a study program, students may attempt to improve to a less than "B" grade.

Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrollment of credit hours include repeat of ‘F’ or ‘D’ grade courses, if any enrolled.

 

Rules for Teaching Practice/Internship:

1.    To enroll for Teaching Practice/Internship, Student must have

                  i.        Passed EDU301-General Method of Teaching

                 ii.         Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher

                iii.         Earned minimum 49 credit hours

Note: Evaluation of the courses "Teaching Practice" will be graded as per the university criteria and will affect a student's CGPA. However, being a compulsory requirement, it is necessary to pass these courses to fulfil the requirements of the degree program.

 

Procedure of Course Selection:

To select your courses, follow the steps below:

  1. From within the LMS, click the Course Selection link button
  2. Give preference to ‘F’ grade course(s) and the improvement of ‘D’ grades where possible
  3. Click the check boxes to select courses
  4. Save the selection
  5. You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop or replace course(s).

 

Note: You may want to consult your scheme of studies under the Student Services section in your LMS account, in case of any confusion.

RECOMMENDATION: Full-time regular students are urged to follow their prescribed scheme of studies.
