Course Selection

Associate Degree in Arts

Rules:

 

1.    Students enrolled in the 1st semester of their study program are required to choose three specializations areas.

2.    Four major courses (and 1 foundation course) must be completed in each specialization, totaling 15 credit hours (or 17 credit hours with Computer Science).

3.    Students must complete the foundation course of each specialization as a prerequisite for major courses.

4.    A minimum of 68 credit hours is required to complete the degree. However, students with a Computer Science specialization are required to complete 70 credit hours with the compulsion of completing practical courses.

5.    The credit hour limits are as below:

                  i.    For the first semester, a maximum of 18 credit hours (19 CH for Computer science) are allowed, and for the second semester a maximum of 17 credit hours (18 CH for Computer science) are allowed as per the study scheme.

               ii.    For the Final semester, a maximum of 21 credit hours are allowed in addition to the Project as applicable, subject to the condition that all degree requirements will be completed within the same semester and no other course selection rules, such as prerequisite or specialization requirements, will be violated.

Note: Maximum limits prescribed for enrollment of credit hours include ‘F’ or any course(s) taken for improvement.

6.    Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the curriculum; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

7.    During a study program, students may attempt to improve a less than ‘B’ grade course(s) only once before completion of the entire coursework program.

 

Rules for Final Year Project:

 

The Final Year Project, is a mandatory course, shall be of 03 Credit Hours and will be offered in the fourth semester.

In order to enroll in the Final Project, students must have:

      i.                Achieved a CGPA of 2 or higher.

    ii.                Earned 48 or more credit hours

Rules for the change of specialization:

 

Students can change the specialization in the 2nd semester and onward with the condition that a student will be required to take the foundation courses of respective specializations, which are offered in the first semester. In case of this change, previously studied foundation courses will not serve the purpose. The department or university will not be responsible for any delay in completion of degree due to a change in specialization.

Procedure:

In order to select your courses, follow the steps below:

1.            From within the LMS, click the Student Services button

2.            Click on the Course Selection link

3.            Give preference to ‘F’ grade course(s) and the improvement of ‘D’ grades where possible

4.            Click the check boxes to select courses

5.            Save the selection

6.            You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop, or replace course(s).

 

Note: In case, a student fails to complete the Final Year Project within the stipulated time due to verifiable recorded reasons, an extension of a maximum of one semester may be granted by the Dean of the faculty on the recommendation of the Head of Department. The permissible maximum duration of the study program shall apply while granting an extension.

RECOMMENDATION: Full time regular students are urged to follow their prescribed scheme of studies.
