Course Selection

B.Ed. Secondary (1.5-years)

Rules:

 

1.   Students enrolled in the first semester of the study program are given pre-selected courses; all other students may select their own courses subject to the scheme of studies and the limitations prescribed in the rules below.

1.     The credit hour limits are as below:

i.              For the first semester a maximum of 18 credit hours are allowed.

ii.             For the second, third and any extra semester, a maximum of 21 credit hours are allowed.

2.     Students taking less than the course load prescribed by their scheme of studies will require extra semesters to complete the course work; in such cases they will also have to bear the additional cost.

3.     During a study program, students may attempt to improve a ‘D’ grade course only once before completion of entire course work program.

 

Rules For Area of Specialization

 

1.         Rules for the selection of area of specialization are as follows:

                      i.        Students will have to select four courses from any one of the given areas of specialization.

                     ii.        Students must have earned at least 15 credit hours.

                    iii.        Students must have a CGPA of 2 or higher.

 

Rules For Teaching Practice

 

1.     Students are required to complete Teaching Practice of 6 credit hours during B.Ed. Secondary program.

 

Rules for Enrollment of Research Project/Teaching Practices/Teaching Internship

 

1.     In order to enrol for Final Project, students must have:

                        i.      Achieved a CGPA of 2.0 or higher.

                       ii.      Earned 36 or more credit hours.

                      iii.      Selected an area of specialization.

                      iv.      Passed STA630-Research Methods course

 

2.     The choice of the topic of the final project is at the student’s discretion. However, consultation with the course instructor is compulsory. Students have to submit a detailed write-up of the Project and may be required to give a presentation.

 

(Note: Evaluation of the courses "Final Project" and "Teaching Practice" will be based on pass/fail criteria and will not affect a student's CGPA. However, being a compulsory requirement, it is necessary to pass these courses to fulfil the requirements of the degree program).

 

Procedure:

In order to select your courses, follow the steps below:

1.     From within the LMS, click the Student Services button

2.     Click on the Course Selection link

3.     Click the check boxes to select courses

4.     Save the selection

5.     You may make changes in course selection any number of times before the last date to add, drop or replace course(s).

(Note: In case of any confusion, you should consult your scheme of studies under the Student Services section in your LMS account).
